Learning Through Play Around the World

Today, Care for Education facilitated online training for a group of international practitioners. Early childhood development practitioners, hospital workers, and teachers from Hong Kong, Netherlands, Qatar, and South Africa joined online to learn through play using mats and Six Bricks as a tool.

Using the mats developed by Care for Education, practitioners explored how to build and develop spatial awareness needed for mathematics. They discussed spatial concepts and the importance of enhancing related skills like eye tracking, midline crossing, and movement. Participants were challenged with trickier associations and movements and remarked on the importance of developing language through play.

The session ended on a playful note as practitioners explored new language and spatial relationships. They also considered their contexts and how to adapt the training to suit the needs of their children and classrooms. Practitioners left the training ready to implement learning through play using mats and Six Bricks.
